MPFA recovers MPF non-payment for 11 employees

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (July 27) pursued six claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $150,000 on behalf of 11 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

At today's hearing, Yung Pin Pin formerly trading as HIW Industries Co, did not dispute the amount claimed.  The Adjudicator ordered him to pay the MPFA  $12,242.04, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The other five defendants, Dayfoong Dyeing and Weaving Factory Limited, Chan Wing Kin trading as Sun Wing Lee Transportation Company, Kwong Yip Dyeing Factory Limited, Max Creator Limited trading as Hang Hing Seafood Hot Pot Restaurant and Fore Leader Limited trading as Luxuriant Seafood Restaurant, did not appear at today's hearing.  In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $47,083.96, $44,978.95, $40,838.45, $4,608.4 and $3,815.14, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA.  The court further awarded payments of $150, $300, $170, $300, $90 and $100 as the costs in respect of the claims.
