A man was fined $3,000 today (July 26) at the Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts for contravening the conditions of the Clubs (Safety of Premises) Ordinance.
The court heard that Officers of the Licensing Authority of Home Affairs Department (HAD) inspected a club-house on Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui in last November and January this year. The officers found that the number of guests in the club-house was beyond the maximum licensed capacity and the layout of the premises deviated from the registered drawing.
The man who is the club-house operator admitted under caution that the number of guests exceeded the maximum capacity as stated in the Certificate of Compliance (CoC).
The operator was in contravention of conditions of the CoC and subsequently charged under section 21(1)(a) of the Clubs(Safety of Premises)Ordinance.
An HAD spokesman said that enforcement action would continue to be taken against illegal club-house operations to ensure the safety of patrons of these establishments.
