A United Christian Hospital (UCH) spokesperson made the following announcement today (July 21):
Five patients (two male and three female, aged 70 to 81) of a medical ward have presented with vomiting and diarrhoea symptoms since July 14. The patients are in stable condition and are put on appropriate isolations precautions. Tests result showed three patients are positive for Norovirus.
Admission and visiting to this ward has been suspended. Infection control measures have also been stepped up in the concerned ward. All patients are under close surveillance.
UCH Infection Control Team has reported the cases to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
