A spokesperson for Castle Peak Hospital (CPH) made the following announcement update today (July 20):
Castle Peak Hospital today reported a new case of patient (female, aged 36) and three staff members suffering from diarrhoea or vomiting symptoms, in addition to the seven female patients (aged 19 to 65) reported to have the same symptoms earlier in a ward of intellectual disability. All in stable condition. The patient is being treated under isolation. Laboratory test is being carried out for the patient. The concerned staff members are on sick leave. The test results for Norovirus of one of the symptomatic patients are positive.
Infection control measures have already been stepped up in the concerned ward, including temporary suspension of admission to and discharge from the ward, as well as visiting arrangements. Medical surveillance of other patients in the ward is also enhanced.
The cases have already been reported to Hospital Authority Head Office and Centre for Health Protection for the necessary follow up actions.
