Mong Kok restaurant ordered to suspend business
***********************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Mong Kok to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, at 5 Soy Street, Mong Kok, was ordered to suspend business from today (July 19) to August 1, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

"In December last year and May this year, there were two convictions in respect of illegal extension of food business at the food premises.

"A total fine of $5,500 was levied and 30 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.

He added that there were also two convictions against the restaurant for the same offence in June last year.

"A total fine of $4,300 was levied and 30 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from January 8 to 14 this year," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply strictly with the Food Business Regulation, otherwise their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
