Press release of Castle Peak Hospital norovirus cases update

    Regarding a male intellectual disability ward and a female admission ward in Castle Peak Hospital in which several patients and a staff member had presented with vomiting or diarrhea symptoms recently, the hospital announced the following update today (June 26):

     There is no new case reported from the male intellectual disability ward today.  For the female admission ward, there is one more patient (aged 28) presented with vomiting and diarrhea symptoms, her condition is stable and is treated under isolation.   Since June 20, there are in total five patients and one staff member presented with vomiting or diarrhea symptoms.  The staff member is currently on sick leave. ¡@Appropriate test has been carried out for the patients and test results are pending.

     Admissions to the above two wards are being suspended while visiting arrangement remains normal.  All other patients in the ward concerned are under close medical surveillance.  Infection control measures have been enhanced.

     The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
