The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) conducted a blitz operation last night (May 26) against illegal food business activities.
During the operation, six mobile carts were found selling a variety of cooked food on a piece of private land at Long Ping Road, Yuen Long.
¡@¡@"Some 55 kilogrammes of raw and cooked food, including fish balls, glutinous rice, fried rice and noodles, together with some paraphernalia found at the site were seized.
¡@¡@"One woman was arrested and charged with operating an unlicensed food factory," a spokesman for the department said.
He said FEHD officers would take stringent enforcement action against unlicensed food businesses to safeguard food safety and public health.
¡@¡@"Anyone with information on unlicensed food businesses should immediately call the department's hotline at 2868 0000," he said.
¡@¡@According to the Food Business Regulation, the maximum penalty for operating an unlicensed food factory is a fine of $50,000 and six months' imprisonment, plus a daily fine of $900.
