Siu Lam Hospital fever cases update

    Regarding the seven patients (aged 29 to 58) of a female ward in Siu Lam Hospital (SLH) presented with fever and respiratory symptoms, SLH announced the following updates today (May 16):

     Today there are two more patients (aged 38 and 52) in the ward presenting with fever and upper respiratory infection symptoms.  They are now in stable condition.  They have been transferred to the isolation ward of Tuen Mun Hospital for further management.   Appropriate tests will be carried out.

     Infection control measures of the ward concerned have been stepped up.  Admission to and discharge from the ward have been suspended, while visiting policy remains normal.  Patientsˇ¦ relatives have been informed about the situation.  All other patients and the staff in the ward are under close surveillance.

     The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
