16 pollution convictions in April

    Sixteen convictions were recorded last month (April) for breaches of anti-pollution legislation enforced by the Enviromental Protection Department.

     Five of the convictions were under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, five under the Waste Disposal Ordinance, four under the Noise Control Ordinance and two under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance.

     The heaviest fine in April was $25,000, assessed against a company contravened the provisions of a licence.
