The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (May 15) pursued one claim in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $7,700 on behalf of one employee, who was owed MPF contributions by the employer.
At today's hearing, the defendant, Mok Leung trading as Tung Man Trading Transportation Company, did not appear at today's hearing. In his absence, the Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA the sum of $7,702.16, being mandatory contribution in arrears and surcharge payable.
The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employee's MPF account as soon as it is received by the MPFA. The court further awarded payment of $170 as the cost in respect of the claim.
