Police are investigating a traffic accident in which three persons were killed in Lok Ma Chau this morning (December 11).
At about 6.30 am, a light goods vehicle driven by a 36-year-old male driver was travelling along San Tin Highway towards Yuen Long. When reaching near Kwu Tung Road, it reportedly swerved to its left and dashed across the crash barrier. It then hit on a concrete barrier under a flyover before it came to a halt.
After the impact, the 36-year-old male driver and his two passengers, a 35-year-old woman and a five-year-old boy, were trapped inside the compartment and were rescued by the firemen.
Sustaining serious injuries, the man was sent to Tuen Mun Hospital where he was certified dead at 7.26 am while the woman and the boy were rushed to North District Hospital where they were certified dead at 7.03 am and 7.06 am respectively.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of New Territories North are underway.
