Secondary School Profiles 2005-2006 released

The following is issued on behalf of The Committee on Home-School Co-operation:

     The Committee on Home-School Co-operation (CHSC) today (December 7) released the web version of the Secondary School Profiles 2005-2006.  Parents of primary school pupils will receive the printed version on a district basis through their schools starting from December 12.

     This is the sixth year that the CHSC has issued the Profile which aims to provide parents with the basic information on secondary schools by school net, covering government, aided, Caput and Direct Subsidy Scheme schools, to facilitate parents' choice of schools.  The Profile also outlines the important points to note when making school choice.

     The Profile carries essential school information on more than 400 local secondary schools, such as school characteristics, facilities, class structure, extra-curricular activities and fees, etc.  The school information in the Profile was provided by schools as at September, 2005.

     Current Primary Six pupils will be the first batch of students to benefit from the new senior secondary curriculum to be introduced in 2009.  As such, the Profile has included for parents' reference the schools' preliminary planned elective subjects and/or career-oriented studies at  senior secondary level.  Parents should note that the schools may make changes to the offers, based on the actual school development as well as manpower and financial resources in the coming years.

     The Profile first went cyber in 2003 to enable schools to update their information on the web direct whenever necessary.  During the period from December, 2004, to now, the number of page view of the web profile is more than 16 million.

     People are welcome to visit the homepage of the CHSC at http://embhsc.hkedcity.net/ or the direct link to the Profile provided by the Hong Kong Education City at http://embhsc.hkedcity.net/secondary/ for the cyber version of the Profile.  Copies of the printed version of the Profile will be available at District Offices, public libraries, Regional Education Offices of the Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB) and Parents' Centre of the CHSC starting from December 12.

     Each primary school will be provided with two full sets of the printed version of the Profile for parentsˇ¦ reference on schools of other districts.
