Acclaimed Cyberport Venture Forum held again (with photos)

     Hong Kong Cyberport hosted the second Cyberport Venture Capital Forum today (December 6). Jointly organised by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited, the Chinese University of Hong Kong Centre for Entrepreneurship and the Faculty of Business Administration, Hong Kong Venture Capital and Private Equity Association, and Monte Jade Science and Technology Association of Hong Kong, Cyberport Venture Capital Forum 2005 (CVCF2005) aimed to facilitate building of win-win entrepreneur-investor partnership in the digital new media and digital entertainment industries.  

     ¡§Hollywood entertainment is famous for the happy ending,¡¨the Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited,  Mr Nicholas Yang, said. ¡§This year¡¦s event theme is ¡¥courtship, marriage, and the (happy) ending.¡¦ In the beginning, when investor and entrepreneur have to find each other. This starts the courtship process. Then comes the marriage phase after entrepreneur and investor like each other and decide to become partners, deal is then struck and the partnership is off to a start. Finally is there is the outcome, the ending. The ending can be a happy one or it can end up in a divorce. The Forum today helps the participants to cultivate a happy ending.¡¨

     This year¡¦s forum features two distinguished keynote speakers, Mr Sanjay Subhedar and Mr Neil Shen. ¡§We measure success based on results and believe operating discipline, in addition to vision, is a critical ingredient for success,¡¨ said Mr Subhedar, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Storm Ventures in the Silicon Valley. Neil Shen, Founding Managing Partner of Sequoia Capital China, believes in the consumer-driven business model. ¡§I think the consumer services companies in China with a technology angle will do well in the years to come.¡¨
