Services at Immigration HQ to be maintained
*******************************************

The Immigration Department will continue to provide services at its headquarters in Immigration Tower at 7 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai, during the World Trade Organization (WTO) Sixth Ministerial Conference, an Immigration spokesman said.

The spokesman advised members of the public who wished to file applications at the headquarters, to do so before or after the conference because of the special traffic arrangements and public activities during the conference period. They could also approach Immigration branch offices for services to avoid the congestion in Wan Chai, he said.

Applicants for HKSAR passports may submit their applications by post or drop them in the collection boxes provided at all Immigration branch offices.

Applicants who wish to apply for identity cards, HKSAR passports or extension of stay at Immigration branch offices are encouraged to make reservations by visiting the website www.esd.gov.hk or calling the 24-hour hotline, 2598 0888.

Applicants may visit www.immd.gov.hk, call the Immigration hotline 2824 6111 or fax 2877 7711 for addresses and business hours of the registration of persons offices and Immigration branch offices.

"Crowd control arrangements and special security measures will be introduced at the Immigration Tower from December 8," the spokesman said.
