The Government has made the following re-appointments and new appointments to the Management Committee of the Consumer Legal Action Fund for a term of two years with effect from December 6, 2005 –
(a) Re-appointments:
Mr Larry KWOK Lam-kwong, JP
Mr LEUNG Lit-on
(b) New appointments:
Mr Anthony CHAN Kin-keung, SC
Ms Amanda LIU Lai-yun
"We are grateful to Mr Kwok and Mr Leung for agreeing to continue to serve on the Management Committee. We are confident that with the new members, the Management Committee will continue to manage the Fund efficiently and in a manner that can best take care of public interests," a government spokesman said.
"We are also grateful to the retiring members, Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung and Ms Alisa Kwan Wan-chee, for their contribution to the work of the Management Committee," the spokesman added.
The Consumer Legal Action Fund was established in 1994 to provide assistance to consumers to take legal action against unscrupulous traders.
The Consumer Council is the Trustee of the Fund. The Management Committee assists the Consumer Council in managing the Fund and determining the eligibility of the applications under the Fund.
