Man sentenced for possession of false instruments

A 53-year-old man was sentenced to imprisonment for 18 months at the District Court today (December 1) for possession of false instruments.

The court heard that after investigation into intelligence received, officers of Police Commercial Crime Bureau stopped the 53-year-old man outside 191 Portland Street in Mong Kok at about 2.45 pm on September 2.

Upon searches, officers found in his possession five counterfeit credit cards contained in a red "lai see" packet.

Follow-up enquires revealed that the man was paid $200 by another man to collect the counterfeit credit cards at a toilet of a fast food restaurant in Mong Kok.

The man was subsequently arrested and later charged with possession of false instruments.  

He pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment at the District Court today.
