Following is a statement by the Director of Fire Services (Designate), Mr Kwok Jing-keung, in response to his new appointment:
"I am pleased that I have been appointed by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to succeed Mr Lam Chun-man as the Director of Fire Services."
"I must pay tribute to my predecessors for their efforts in building up the Hong Kong Fire Services. Under their capable leadership, the department has grown from strength to strength to become a world-class fire brigade."
"Looking ahead, the department will remain community-focused and continue to give its best to provide quality emergency services for the public. Internally, I will strive to maintain a good partnership with all staff through effective communication."
"I will meet the challenges ahead hand in hand with all Fire Services members so as to make contributions to the development of Hong Kong."
