"Winning Entries on Hong Kong Heritage Awards (2004) Exhibition" will run from tomorrow (November 29) until March 31, 2006 at the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre. By showcasing 11 winning projects through texts, models and videos as well as the comments from the adjudicators, the exhibition will give visitors a deeper understanding of the importance of heritage conservation and commend the winners for their outstanding accomplishments in heritage preservation. The picture shows the facade of the Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences after conservation works. The project, represents an extraordinary example of very good conservation practice with minimal intervention, won the Award of Merit of the Heritage Preservation and Conservation Awards. The emphasis on conserving original materials, the removal of inappropriate additions and the use of careful conservation techniques have commendably restored and revived the historical building.
