The Delegation of Shenzhou VI Manned Space Flight Mission will meet students from some 400 secondary and primary schools to share their experience in space exploration and training for the space mission this Tuesday (November 29) afternoon.
Organised by the Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB), the "Dialogue Session on Shenzhou VI" is aimed to enhance students' understanding of the development of China's aerospace activities. Through providing our students with the opportunity to interact with the aerospace team, the dialogue session helps to nurture their sense of national identity and promote national education in schools.
More than 2,000 students will join the event. The Permanent Secretary for Education and Manpower, Mrs Fanny Law, will deliver a welcome speech.
Four students, who have taken part in the Award Scheme for Student Leaders of Hong Kong: National Education Course", will act as moderators. They paid a visit to the Beijing Aerospace Command and Control Center last year, during which they gained considerable understanding of China's aerospace technology development through their dialogues with scientists.
In addition, Astronauts Fei Junlong and Nie Haisheng as well as the leader of the Delegation of Shenzhou VI Manned Space Flight Mission, Mr Hu Shixiang, will present awards to champions of the "Essay Competition for Primary and Secondary Schools Students - Theme: The Launching of Shenzhou VI" organised by EMB in October.
Prize-winners of the competition will have priority to join a study tour on aerospace technology to be held in Beijing in summer 2006.
The "Dialogue Session on Shenzhou VI" will be held between 2.30pm and 4pm at Queen Elizabeth Stadium, Wan Chai. Live broadcast will be arranged on TVB-Pearl from 2.30pm to 4pm while live webcast will be made on the websites of RTHK Education TV (website: www.eTVonline.tv) and HKedCity (website: www.hkedcity.net).
