The Legislative Council held an Open Day of the Legislative Council Building today (November 26) from 10am to 5pm. The event was attended by 3,575 visitors.
A ribbon cutting ceremony which marked the start of the event was officiated at 9:30am by Hon Mrs Rita FAN HSU Lai-tai, President of the Legislative Council, Hon Miriam LAU Kin-yee, Chairman of the House Committee, and Hon Fred LI Wah-ming, Deputy Chairman of the House Committee.
During the event, a total of 68 guided tours were conducted and 3,575 visitors were entertained. They were introduced to the work of the Legislative Council and were briefed on the functions of various facilities inside the Legislative Council Building, including the Chamber, the Ante-Chamber, the President's Office, Conference Rooms A, B and C, the Press Conference Room, the Press Room, the Dining Hall, and Members' Rooms.
17 Members of the Legislative Council took part in the event. They were stationed in the Chamber and the Ante-Chamber to receive visitors. Some Members also assisted in conducting guided tours.
The purpose of organizing the event is to enable members of the public to understand the work of the Legislative Council and to pay a visit to the historical Building.
