"Auspicious Emblems: Chinese Cultural Treasures - 45th Anniversary Exhibition of the Min Chiu Society" will run from tomorrow (November 25) until July 19, 2006, at the Hong Kong Museum of Art. Featuring more than 220 antiques and paintings, the exhibition offers audiences an opportunity to understand the auspicious beliefs inherent in Chinese culture. Pictured is a large porcelain jar with hundred-boys design in underglaze blue made in the Jiajing period (1522-1566) in the Ming dynasty, reflecting the primitive desire for plentiful offspring deeply rooted in Chinese culture in its early days.
