"Auspicious Emblems: Chinese Cultural Treasures - 45th Anniversary Exhibition of the Min Chiu Society" will run from tomorrow (November 25) until July 19, 2006, at the Hong Kong Museum of Art. Featuring more than 220 antiques and paintings, the exhibition offers audiences an opportunity to understand the auspicious beliefs inherent in Chinese culture. Pictured is a jade plaque carved with dragon motif in openwork, on which the dragon image is placed in the most noticeable spot to signify the utmost auspiciousness. The plaque is believed to be made in the Yuan dynasty (1271 - 1368) or Ming dynasty (1368 - 1644).
