Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH) spokesperson made the following announcement today (22 November):
Six doctors and nurses (2 male and 4 female) of the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine have recently presented with fever and symptoms of respiratory infection since 11 November 2005. Three of them have recovered and the remaining three are currently on sick leaves. Influenza A & B tests yielded negative results.
The Department maintains its normal service and all the staff on duty were advised to wear surgical mask. Thorough cleansing will be reinforced for all departmental offices and meeting rooms.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
