Caritas Medical Centre Child Residents' gastroenteritis cases update

In the Developmental Disabilities Unit (DDU) of Caritas Medical Centre (CMC) where there were child residents presenting with gastroenteritis symptoms yesterday, the hospital announced the following update today (November 22):

Today, two more child residents (one boy and one girl, aged 7 and 9) in the DDU presented with gastroenteritis symptoms. They were transferred to the isolation ward for further management and condition is stable.
 
As at today (November 22), there are seven child residents (four boys and three girls, aged 7 to 13) and one staff of the Lok Yan School presented with gastroenteritis symptoms. Appropriate tests are being carried out on the child residents concerned and the results are pending.

Infection control measures have been stepped up in DDU. Schooling of children in the 1/F of DDU has been suspended. Visiting arrangements remain unchanged. All visitors and other child residents are under close surveillance. The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre of Health Protection.

The DDU of CMC is a long term hostel for the severely mentally handicapped children.
