Tenders invited for Highways Department projects

    The Highways Department is now inviting interested parties to submit tenders for the provision of a lift to the footbridge at the junction of Ferry Street and Waterloo Road, the reconstruction of Hiu Kwong Street (between Hip Wo Street and Sau Lai Street) and How Ming Street (between Hoi Yuen Road and How Ming Lane) (tender reference: HY/2004/08)

     The works mainly comprise the construction of one lift tower at the footbridge at the junction of Ferry Street and Waterloo Road, reconstruction of the carriageway and footpath of the sections of Hiu Kwong Street (between Hip Wo street and Sau Lai Street) approximately 460 metres long and How Ming Street (between Hoi Yuen Road and How Ming Lane) approximately 510 metres long and the association drainage improvement works.

     The works are expected to commence in January 2006 and will take about 19 months to complete.

     The works have been designed by the Bridges and Structures Division and the Works Division of the Highways Department. The construction will be supervised by the Works Division of the Highway Department.

     Tenders must be clearly marked with the tender reference and the subject of the tender on the outside of the envelope (but it should not bear any indication that could relate the tender to the tenderer) addressed to the Chairman, Public Works Tender Board, and placed in the Public Works Tender Box in Room 4128F on the 41/F of the Queensway Government Offices, 66 Queensway, Hong Kong before noon on Friday, December 9, 2005.

     Interested parties can pick up the tender documents from tomorrow (November 19) during office hours at the Works Division, Highways Department, 16/F, Skyline Tower 39 Wang Kwong Road, Kowloon Bay, Kowloon.
