MPFA recovers MPF non-payment for one employee

    The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (November 18) pursued a claim in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $3,000 on behalf of one employee, who was owed MPF contributions by her employer.  

     The defendant, Arabian Bird Touring Bus Company Limited, did not appear at today's hearing. In its absence, the Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA the sum of $3,026.25, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employee's MPF account as soon as it is received by the MPFA. The court further awarded payments of $240 as costs in respect of the claim.
