Regarding the male psychiatric ward in Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH) in which there were patients presenting with influenza-like-illness and upper respiratory infection symptoms earlier, the hospital today (7 November) has the following announcement:
Today, there is one more patient (aged 44) in the male psychiatric ward presenting with upper respiratory infection symptoms. The patient has been transferred to isolation ward for further management and his condition is stable. As at today, there has been totally 11 patient (aged 23 to 56) in the male psychiatric ward presenting with upper respiratory infection symptoms. Their conditions are stable. 9 of them were negative to influenza A & B while the remaining two were positive to influenza A.
All other patients in the ward concerned are under close surveillance and infection control measures have already been stepped up.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
