The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (November 4) pursued a claim in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $2,000 on behalf of one employee, who were owed MPF contributions by the employer.
And in the District Court on Tuesday (November 1), an employer was ordered to pay some $72,000 for two employees earlier, who were owed MPF contributions by their employer.
At today's hearing, Ng Lut To & Lau Hoi Chau trading as Yiu Hoi Construction Engineering Company did not dispute the amount claimed. The Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA the sum of $2,050.40, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The court further awarded payments of $290 as costs in respect of the claim.
In the District Court on Tuesday, the defendant, Hanwise Limited, was ordered to pay the MPFA $72,003.75, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to the employees of the defendant.
The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employee's MPF account as soon as it is received by the MPFA. The court further ordered the defendant to pay $930 as the costs of the claim.
