Regarding the male psychiatric ward in Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH) in which there were seven patients presenting with influenza-like-illness and upper respiratory infection symptoms earlier, the hospital today (31 October) has the following announcement:
Today there is one more patient (aged 50) in the male psychiatric ward presenting with upper respiratory infection symptoms. The patient has been transferred to isolation ward for further management. His condition is stable and viral test of influenza A yielded positive result. Admission to the ward concerned will continue to be suspended. Besides, the influenza-A and B test results of a patient pending yesterday are both negative.
All other patients in the ward concerned are under close surveillance and infection control measures have already been stepped up.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
