Look after your MPF investment, add value to your future

    The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (October 29) launched a six-month MPF Investment Education Campaign to encourage the public to learn more about MPF investment and to take better care of their MPF accounts.

     A Kick-off Ceremony cum Multi-media Exhibition was held at New Town Plaza in Shatin today, with the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Rafael Hui as the officiating guest.

     Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of the MPFA, Mr Charles Lee Yeh-kwong, said through  the Campaign, the MPFA hoped to encourage scheme members to define clearly their goals, to understand the main features of MPF funds, and to learn more about MPF investment, so as to accumulate more wealth for retirement.

     At the ceremony, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Rafael Hui, appointed financial expert Mr Chan Wing-luk as the Campaign Ambassador to help the MPFA to promote MPF investment knowledge. On Mondays from 7 November 2005 to 16 January 2006, Mr Chan's programme on Commercial Radio 1 - ¡§Crosstrade¡¨ - will run an MPF segment with interviews with celebrities, artistes and industry representatives to share practical investment knowledge.

     Prominent artiste Ms Liza Wang, also appeared at the ceremony to call on the public to take better care of their MPF investment.

     The slogan of the MPF Investment Education Campaign is "Look after your MPF investment  Add value to your future". The key messages of the Campaign are: "understanding your personal factors" and "knowing your funds".



Highlights of the Campaign are:    

- Multi-media publicity: To disseminate MPF investment messages through TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, and the MPFA website.

- Community involvement: To reach out to the community through district carnivals, seminars and other promotion activities jointly organised with labour unions, District Councils and political parties.

- Trustee participation: To coordinate with MPF trustees to enhance scheme members' MPF investment knowledge.

- Youth education programme: To organise seminars, exhibitions and financial planning competition for youth to enhance their awareness of the importance of early planning for retirement; and to organise training workshops for youth workers to facilitate them to pass the knowledge onto youngsters.

- Training workshops:¡@To organise training workshops for MPF intermediaries, labour union executives, the media, and youth workers to enhance their MPF investment knowledge.

- MPF investment education leaflets: To produce leaflets on MPF investment in easy-to-understand language, which will be distributed to the public at MPF activities and uploaded on the MPFA website (www.mpfahk.org). The leaflets are also available at the MPFA Office (5/F, One International Finance Centre, 1 Harbour View Street, Central, Hong Kong), District Offices, and Job Centres and Labour Relations Divison of the Labour Department.
