SCIT speaks about WTO MC6
*************************

Following is the transcript of the Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology, Mr John Tsang, speaking to the media after attending a radio programme today (October 29) (English portion):

Reporter: Mr Tsang, can you say a few word about how you feel about the latest consensus between the European Union and the World Trade Organisation. Do you think that means there is a bigger possibility that an agreement can be reached at the WTO meeting?

SCIT: I welcome the offer made by the European Union yesterday. I think Peter Mandelson has done quite a bit of useful work and I recognise his efforts. This is a step forward. What is good about it is that the ball is still in play. I think that is important. I have urged the relevant members to continue the discussion so that they could come out with a credible package by the time they come to Hong Kong in December.
