The Water Supplies Department today (October 28) awarded a $63 million contract to Wo Hing Construction Company Limited for the construction of Ring Mains for Cha Kwo Ling Salt Water Supply System.
The works include the laying of about 6km of salt water trunk mains of sizes ranging from 600 to 1200 mm in diameter in the East Kowloon areas (along Tsui Ping Road and Tseung Kwan O Road) to improve the reliability of the existing salt water supply system. The construction works are scheduled for completion in September, 2009.
This is the department's first time using a design-and-build type contract for laying large diameter water pipes in utility-congested areas for better and more effective control of road opening durations.
