Proposed helipad at Peng Chau
***************************** The Government intends to construct a helipad with associated emergency vehicular access by dredging/reclamation in the coastal waters at Pak Wan, northwest Peng Chau to replace the current helipad to serve the emergency needs of the local community there.
The current helipad, located at a soccer pitch on the top of a hill near Tai Lung Tsuen, is not considered ideal by the Government Flying Service on flight safety grounds as the site is within a confined area and can only be accessed by climbing long stairs.
The work will affect about 12,400 square metres of foreshore and sea-bed at Peng Chau. It is scheduled to commence in May 2006 and to be completed by mid-2007.
A notice describing the extent of the area affected is published in the Government Gazette today (October 28).
The notice together with a related plan can be seen on notice boards posted near the site. The plan can also be seen at the Lands Department Survey and Mapping Office, 23/F, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road and the Islands District Office, 20/F, Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central.
Anyone who has an interest, right or easement in or over the foreshore and sea-bed involved can submit a written objection to the Director of Lands, 20/F North Point Government Offices, by December 28, 2005.
