
MPFA recovers MPF non-payment for 13 employees
********************************************** The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (27 October) pursued eight claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $120,000 on behalf of 13 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
At today's hearing, four defendants including Bestform Construction Limited, Cheung Yin Ling Florens & Li Shu Ting trading as Global Design, Lee Kai Leung Anthony trading as Advanced Digi Photo Centre and Mo Shun Ling trading as Rich-life Co., did not dispute the amounts claimed. The Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $33,147.54, $27,096.36, $22,252.98 and $8,389.50 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The other four defendants, including Grafixpro Limited, Hanifax Engineering Limited, Asiatex Enterprise Limited and Ma Hon Bor trading as Hop Kee Fast Food Shop, did not appear at today's hearing. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $15,750.00, $8,549.04, $4,012.96 and $2,889.60 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The court further awarded payments of $280, $200, $180, $150, $340, $200, $160 and $70 as costs in respect of the claims.
