Legco seeks views from public

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     The Legislative Council now invites people to express their views on the Administrationˇ¦s proposals for the methods for selecting the Chief Executive in 2007 and for forming the Legislative Council in 2008 (the ˇ§electoral methodsˇ¨); and the draft motions on the amendments to Annexes I and II to the Basic Law.

     On October 19, 2005, the Constitutional Development Task Force released its Fifth Report which contains a package of proposals for the ˇ§electoral methodsˇ¨.  For details of the Fifth Report and related information, please visit the following website:

     A Subcommittee, chaired by Hon Tam Yiu-chung, has been formed to study the ˇ§electoral methodsˇ¨. Those interested in giving their views are invited to send their written submissions (preferably in both Chinese and English) to the Clerk to the Subcommittee on or before Monday, November 7, 2005. They are also requested to indicate whether they intend to make oral representations to the sub-committee at its meeting to be held on November 12, 2005 (Saturday) at 2pm in the Chamber of the Legislative Council Building. Submissions received will be made available to the media and the public and uploaded onto the Website of the Legislative Council unless advised otherwise.
