Hospital Authority response to The Ombudsman investigation
********************************************************** The following is issued on behalf of Hospital Authority:
In response to media enquiries about the direct investigation into the medical fees waiver system of public hospitals by The Ombudsman, the spokesman for the Hospital Authority (HA) gave the following reply:
The HA welcomes the investigation proposed by The Ombudsman. We will fully co-operate with their officers to provide all the information and data required to facilitate the process.
Currently there are established guidelines and procedures in public hospitals to administer the medical fees waiver system. The system is under constant review and numerous improvements to meet the evolving needs of patients and their families have been made over the past years.
HA is looking forward to the findings and recommendations of the investigation by The Ombudsman to further enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the mechanism, and ensure the public revenue invested in the medical fees waiver system is best utilised.
