Brazil grants visa-free access to HKSAR passport holders

    The Director of Immigration, Mr Lai Tung-kwok, on behalf of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government, signed an Agreement on Abolition of Visa Requirements with Ambassador Manoel Gomes Pereira, Head of Department of Brazilian Overseas Communities, Ministry of External Relations of Brazil in Brasilia today (October 20).

     "The agreement provides visa-free access to HKSAR passport holders visiting Brazil for a stay of up to 90 days and Brazilian nationals will enjoy 90 days' visa-free access to Hong Kong," a spokesman for the Immigration Department said. The agreement will enter into force after completion of the internal procedures required for its entry into force.

     "We warmly welcome the signing of the agreement, which helps promote trade, business and tourism links between Hong Kong and Brazil," the spokesman said.

     The availability of visa-free access to Brazil has brought the total number of countries/territories granting visa-free access to HKSAR passport holders to 135.
