
MPFA recovers MPF non-payment for eight employees
************************************************* The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (October 19) pursued two claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $66,000 on behalf of eight employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
At today's hearing, two defendants including Wong Yiu Chung & But Kam Ming trading as Hing Tung Food Shop, and Overseas Computer Paper Company Limited, did not dispute the amount claimed. The Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sum of $45,225 and $21,549.61 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The court further awarded payments of $410 and $370 as costs in respect of the claims.
