
SCIT to promote ITU TELECOM WORLD 2006
************************************** The Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology, Mr John Tsang, will travel to Beijing tomorrow (October 20) to attend the PT/WIRELESS & NETWORKS COMM CHINA 2005.
Mr Tsang will visit an exhibition booth set up by the HKSAR Government at the PT/WIRELESS & NETWORKS COMM CHINA 2005 to promote ITU TELECOM WORLD 2006, which will be held in Hong Kong in December, 2006. It will be the first time since its inception in 1971 that an ITU TELECOM WORLD event is held away from its homebase in Geneva.
On Friday night (October 21), Mr Tsang will represent Hong Kong to host a reception at the Kerry Centre Hotel in Beijing to launch the full marketing activities on the Mainland for the ITU TELECOM WORLD 2006. The reception is jointly organised by the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) of the Central People's Government and the Commerce, Industry and Technology Bureau of the HKSARG.
Mr Tsang will take the opportunity to meet the media and the major information and communication technology enterprises on the Mainland and invite them to Hong Kong to participate in the prestigious international event.
PT/WIRELESS & NETWORKS COMM CHINA 2005, running from October 18 to 22, is sponsored by the MII and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. The event is one of the largest exhibitions in information and telecommunications products and services in Asia.
Mr Tsang will return to Hong Kong on Saturday (October 22).
