Greenpeace could use Central Pier No.2

    In response to press reports today (October 10) on Greenpeace's application for the use of Eastern Berth of Central Pier No. 2, a spokesman for the Government Property Agency (the Agency) confirmed that the Agency informed Greenpeace on October 7 that it could use the pier for the purpose and the duration proposed subject to the terms and execution of the Tenancy Agreement.  The Tenancy Agreement to be executed is a tri-partite agreement involving a private company which currently undertakes management of the pier and agreement of the third party will also be necessary.

     The proposed tenancy, when executed, will expire on October 24, 2005.  

     The spokesman stressed that in considering the application, the Agency had followed an established procedure for processing application for temporary use of government properties.
