The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (October 10) pursued two claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $50,000 on behalf of three employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
At today's hearing, the defendant, Kwan Kin Yu & Chan To Mo formerly trading as Concept Electronic Engineering Co., did not dispute the amount claimed. The Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sum of $3,410.26, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharge payable.
The other defendant, Shun Li Hong Watch Manufactory Limited, did not appear at today's hearing. In its absence, the Adjudicator ordered the defendant to pay the MPFA the sum of $46,620.00, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharge payable.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The court further awarded payments of $260 and $370 as costs in respect of the claims.
