Film Development Fund reactivated
*********************************

The Government has reactivated the Film Development Fund (FDF) to provide financial support to projects conducive to the healthy, long-term development of the film industry in Hong Kong.

Applications for 2005 are invited and the closing date is November 30, 2005. The fund will subsequently accept applications three times a year. Funding support will be provided for projects that are beneficial to the overall development of the Hong Kong film industry.

The FDF was first set up in April, 1999, for five years until 2004. The Government recommended and the Legislative Council this year approved the redeployment of $20 million to reactivate the fund to maintain government support for the local film industry.

Since its launch in 1999, the FDF has allocated more than $48 million to 72 projects. These include training programmes, seminars, incentive schemes, survey and study, and compilation of industry documentation to stimulate the development of local film production. Sponsorships were also provided to 40 local film projects so they could participate in film festivals and promote local films overseas.

Application forms and guidelines are available at the Film Services Office of the Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority, 40/F Revenue Tower, 5 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai; or the Film Services Office's website: www.fso-tela.gov.hk/fdf/index.cfm
