Murder in Yau Ma Tei

Police have classified as murder a case in which a 40-year-old man was attacked and later dead in Yau Ma Tei early this (October 4) morning.

At about 4 am, Police received a report that a 40-year-old man and a 33-year-old man with chop wounds were found lying outside No.18 Wylie Road, Yau Ma Tei.

Initial enquiries revealed that the two men had earlier been on board a private car which stopped at a traffic light at the junction of Wylie Road and Princess Margaret Road.  In the meantime, another private car approached and blocked their way.

Three men armed with knives alighted and moved towards the victimsˇ¦ car.

The two victims immediately alighted their private car and ran away.  The three culprits chased from behind and finally stopped the two men outside No.18 Wylie Road.

After chopping the two men, the three culprits fled on board their private car.

Police arrived at scene and located the two injured men.  They were rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital where the 40-year-old man was certified dead at 7.58 pm.

A post-mortem will be conducted on the deceased later to ascertain the cause of death.

Investigations by Crime officers of Kowloon West Region are proceeding.
