A 41-year-old woman was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment at the District Court today (October 4) for obtaining pecuniary advantage by deception.
The court heard that the defendant was employed as the personal assistant to the chairman of a company in November 1996 by falsely presenting degree certificates from two universities in Singapore and the United States in October 1996.
Police Commercial Crime Bureau took up the investigation in November 2004. The woman was later charged with using a false instrument and obtaining pecuniary advantage by deception.
She was on trial at the District Court between September 12 and 16 this year and the sentence was meted out today.
