Members of extortion syndicate charged

Police today (September 30) charged two men, aged 36 and 50, with blackmail, arson and claiming to be a member of triad society.
They were arrested yesterday (September 29) by officers of Regional Anti-triad Unit of New Territories South during an operation to combat an extortion syndicate targeting at construction sites in Lantau Island.
The two men will appear in Eastern Magistracy tomorrow (October 1) to face their charges.
Another four men, aged 22 – 51 who were also arrested in the operation, have been bailed out pending further enquiries.
