The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:
In response to press enquiries, a spokesman for the Legislative Council Secretariat said today (September 30) that the Secretary General, Mr Ricky Fung, had written to the person in connection with a so-called "Clear the Air Tobacco Advisory Panel for Legislative Council", asking that organisation to immediately stop using that title.
The spokesman stressed that the Legislative Council had not set up any such advisory panel, and any materials released by that organisation were not official documents of the Legislative Council.
The Secretariat reserved the right to take any further action as deemed appropriate, if that organisation refuses to stop using the existing title, the spokesman added.
