Appeal for information on fatal traffic accident in Kwai

Police today (September 30) appeal to members of the public to provide information on a traffic accident in which a 21-year-old man was killed in Kwai Chung.

At about 6.30 pm on September 26, a medium goods vehicle driven by a 36-year-old man was leaving a car park of an industrial building and was travelling downslope towards the exit on Wah Sing Street, Kwai Chung. On reaching at the exit, it reportedly knocked down the toll booth at the left of the exit and a 30-year-old male pedestrian before making a stop at the pavement.

Five male security guards, aged between 21 and 57, who were inside the toll booth were trapped and rescued by firemen at scene.

Sustaining injuries, the 36-year-old driver, a 46-year-old male passenger, the pedestrian and the five security guards, were sent to Princess Margaret Hospital where the 21-year-old security guard was certified dead at 5.10 pm on Wednesday (September 28).

Investigations by Special Investigation Team, New Territories South are underway.
