Customs seizes $1 million worth of ketamine (with photo)

    Customs officers of the Airport Command yesterday (September 29) afternoon seized from two incoming passengers 6kg of ketamine with an estimated retail value of $1 million.

     Customs officers intercepted two incoming passengers, who arrived from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. They seized from each of them three bags of ketamine, each bag weighing 1kg.

     The drugs were concealed in false compartments of their suitcases.

     Two Malaysian men, aged 27 and 41, were arrested. They will be charged with "Trafficking in a dangerous drug" and appear in Eastern Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (October 1) for mention.

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence and the maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
