The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
The Hospital Authority (HA) Board, at its Administrative and Operational Meeting today (September 29), heard a presentation on consultancy review on the remuneration packages of HA senior executives.
The HA Board agreed to the following principles as recommended by the Board¡¦s Staff Committee:
* To abolish the current annual incentive award scheme which has applied to the Chief Executive (CE), Cluster Chief Executives and Hospital Chief Executives for a number of years.
* To move to a ¡§broad band¡¨ remuneration system for senior executives.
Any changes to individual remuneration would be at the time of contract renewal and subject to individual performance as determined by an independent panel whilst having regard to market practice and affordability.
In regard to the remuneration of the CE currently being recruited, members agreed in principle to use the current CE remuneration package as a starting point when considering an appropriate package for the successful candidate, but the final recommendation would depend on the skills, knowledge and experience of the successful candidate.
