Police appealed to victims of indecent assault cases to come forward after arresting a 40-year-old man in connection with a series of similar cases in Yuen Long this (September 29) morning.
In response to six reports of indecent assault that occurred in Yuen Long district since February this year, the District Crime Squad of Yuen Long took over the investigations.
Enquiries revealed that the victims, girls aged between eight and 12, were taken by a man riding on a bicycle to some quiet places in the Yuen Long district and indecently assaulted them.
The man pretended to be delivering some equipment or books to the schools of the victims and asked the victims to show the way.
Officers from the District Crime Squad of Yuen Long started laying ambush from June in the vicinity of Long Ping Estate and Shui Bin Wai Estate.
At about 7.30 am this morning, the officers saw a man whose appearance resembles the descriptions of the wanted man carrying a girl on his bicycle in Shui Bin Wai Estate.
Police immediately intercepted the 40-year-old man who put up a struggle with Police officers in an attempt to escape. The man was subsequently subdued and arrested.
Enquiries revealed that the victim had earlier been asked to provide assistance in delivering some goods to her school.
The arrested man is still being detained for enquiries.
Police urged anyone who has encountered this modus operandi but has not reported to Police to contact the investigating officers at 2473 8200.
